Coach Joe
My name is Coach Joe, and sport and athletics have been a huge part of my life from a young age. Growing up in Brixham, Devon, athletics was a staple of my childhood and helped me develop qualities such as discipline, resilience, determination and self-confidence.
My main passion has always been middle & long-distance running, particularly the 1500m. I competed throughout my childhood and was fortunate enough to reach the National Finals on multiple occasions. Distance running taught me the importance of consistency, hard work and mental toughness, qualities that continue to influence the way I coach today.
My passion for sport led me to study Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Worcester, before completing my PGCE in Physical Education at the University of Exeter. These experiences have given me a strong understanding of both athletic performance and how to support young people in reaching their potential.
As a PE teacher and athletics coach, I aim to create an environment where athletes enjoy training, challenge themselves and continually improve. Whether they are competing at a high level or simply developing their fitness and confidence, my goal is to help every athlete become the best version of themselves, both on and off the track.
